Breast Lift
What is Breast Lift?
Breasts, which we know are one of the most important organs that make a woman feel beautiful and attractive, are also the structures most affected by lifelong hormonal changes and weight gain. In cases such as childbirth, breastfeeding, and excessive weight gain, the breasts naturally grow, and when the pregnancy period ends and weight is lost, it may return to its former volume, but the skin, which has expanded due to the effect of stretching, cannot recover, and the breast and nipple are positioned below the level of the breast fold with the effect of gravity. changes. This sagging and loss of fullness can cause a woman’s morale to deteriorate, a decrease in her self-confidence, depression and a deterioration in her relations with her husband. Some women seek solutions to lift their breasts without surgery; but no massage, cream or tool can make the sagging nipple go up.
The goal of breast lift (mastopexy) surgery is to achieve a fuller and firmer breast form while moving the nipple and nipple to a higher position on the anterior chest wall. In this way, the displaced volume and fullness of the breasts are moved back to where they should be, and the cracked skin area can be completely or partially removed. In the meantime, it is also possible to narrow the nipple, which has an enlarged diameter due to stretching, to bring it to a smaller diameter.
Sometimes patients think that the problem will be solved with breast lift surgery alone, but if there is a severe reduction in the volume of the breasts, the aesthetic result of your dreams cannot be achieved because the breasts will remain very small with only the lift. In such cases, both breast prosthesis should be placed and breast lift surgery should be performed in the same session so that the result is satisfactory.
Since each woman’s breast shape, sagging rate and excess skin are different from each other, there are many different techniques described for breast lift. The most suitable one of these techniques for you is decided after the examination. Depending on the surgical technique used in breast lift; There may be a straight line extending only to the nipple, the nipple and additionally to the inframammary fold, or there may be an inverted T-shaped scar under the nipple. These scars do not occur in the décolleté area and remain in the bra.
Breast lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes 1.5-2 hours depending on the chosen technique. A drain can be placed depending on the bleeding situation in the surgery. It is recommended that you use a special bra like a sports bra for 1 month after the operation. Patients are usually discharged on the same day or 1 day later. Since the stitches are dissolving stitches, it is not possible to take stitches. If a drain is placed during the surgery, these drains are usually removed after 1-2 days. You are allowed to take a bath 2-3 days after the drains are removed. There is no serious pain after the surgery, and the pain can be controlled with oral painkillers. In order for your wound healing to be smooth after the surgery, you should not do heavy work for 3-4 weeks, do not lift your arms too high, and stay away from movements that force your arms. Patients without severe working conditions 3.-5. They can return to work from day one.
It may take 1-2 months for the breast shape to reach its natural appearance after breast lift surgery. It takes 6-12 months for the final result to appear.
Breast lift surgery is generally not affected by breastfeeding as it is tried not to damage the milk ducts. However, breast-feeding cannot be guaranteed for patients who are likely to become pregnant in the post-operative life.
The risks that may be encountered in the early period are bleeding, infection, and wound dehiscence, which are the problems that may be encountered in any surgical procedure. What is special about breast surgery can be summarized as changes in sensation in the nipple. In the late period, problems such as prominent scars or asymmetry in the breasts may occur. These asymmetries can be corrected with additional minor manipulations.
As long as you do not gain or lose serious weight or become pregnant after breast lift surgery, serious deformities will not occur in your breasts again. However, depending on the predisposition of the person’s skin structure, sagging of the breasts may occur over time due to the effects of gravity and aging that reduce skin elasticity. Depending on the preference of the person, breast lift surgery can be performed again in order to restore the firmness and vitality of the breast.
